Making the Markets

The International Hospitality Investment Forum returned to Berlin on 15-17 April 2024, just in time to tackle a perfect storm of global issues. 200+ of the finest minds in hospitality informed delegates of how Making the Markets isn’t just a theme, but the only way to put the industry and investors back in the driving seat.

Volcanic geopolitical tensions on the fringe of Europe and the Middle East are merely the backdrop. The hospitality industry and investors were simultaneously dealing with a volatile macroeconomic environment in which inflation is falling yet remains high, interest rates remain unpredictable, and economic growth is slow. The 2024 edition of IHIF had a precise and unwavering focus on how imperative it is that we proactively create new market opportunities for increased profit and continuing success.

Meanwhile, the bankers’ crystal ball forecast that although we’ll avoid an imminent recession, challenges remain including the sparsity of available debt and lack of deal-flow over the last 12 months. IHIF looked at how addressing fledgling and overlooked segments helped to anticipate and create consumer trends. Developing new visions for hospitality beyond the traditional hotel blueprint supports innovation for the industry, the knock-on effects of which are more creative deal structures and partnerships.

With so much at stake, our roster of speakers presented their views on how proactivity, innovation, and conviction are essential companions on the highway to success.
